COVID-19 Update
As of September 8th, we are pleased to announce not only a return to our regular business hours, but an opportunity for owners to be present with their pets for selected appointments.
Animal Clinic Downtown is a small practice that relies on a small staff-base; it is very important that we keep everybody healthy through this transition. Any negative effect of Covid-19 on our staff could result in a closure of the clinic itself; therefore, it is important that we follow strict protocols. The following is a list of steps that we are taking for our gradual reopening:
- To help manage traffic in and out of the clinic, our doors will remain locked. The clinic itself is a small space which allows for minimal social distancing; we need to be able to control the number of clients we have in the clinic at any given time.
- For all CONSULTATION/EXAM appointments we will be allowing ONE owner to be present with their pet. You will be required to call the clinic on arrival so we can go through our admission questions and escort you down and into an exam room.
- All minor appointments (with either the Regsitered Vet Tech or the Veterinarian) including puppy and kitten boosters, nail trims, as well as brief teeth-checks will still be done in the absence of the owner. As mentioned before, in order to minimize contact with other clients, we still need to keep our traffic to a minimum.
- The protocol for food and prescription purchases will remain the same. All invoices will be dealt with over the phone and all products will be delivered to the client outside the building.
- All clients are required to wear face protection. In the event that an owner is exempt from mask usage, we will continue to perform distancing appointments.
- All surgery and drop-off appointments will continue to be admitted to the clinic by distance. Please call the clinic when you arrive for admission and we will come up and fetch your pet. All home-care instructions and payments will continue to be done over the phone to make it easy to discharge your pet when they are recovered enough to go home.
- Disinfection and sanitation protocols will continue to be stringent as thorough cleanings are required between both pets and clients. Hand sanitizer will be provided at the entry to the clinic.
We are happy to accommodate any clients who still prefer having distance appointments. Just let us know your preference when you call the clinic to let us know you have arrived.
Thanks to all of you for your continued patience. We will keep you posted on any changes that may arise.
